AUTOMOTIVE TITLE CLERK
An Automotive Title Clerk handles the paperwork required to legally transfer vehicle ownership after a vehicle is sold, traded or financed. The position is common at car dealerships, title agencies and automotive groups.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Process new and used vehicle titles
Prepare and submit DMV/RMV registrations
Process title transfers
Verify customer information, VINS, odometer readings, and purchase documents
Handle Lienholder information and lien releases
Prepare paperwork for out of state transactions
Track titles from purchase through completion
Resolve title problems, missing documents, and rejected registrations
Maintain accurate electronic and physical title records
Communicate with DMV/RMV offices, banks, lenders, customers, and dealership staff
Ensure paperwork complies with state requirements and dealership procedures

TYPICAL DAY
A typical day might involve receiving completed deal jackets from the finance department, reviewing the paperwork for errors, preparing title and registration documents, submitting them to the appropriate motor vehicle agency, tracking outstanding titles, and correcting rejected or incomplete transactions. Also, will be responsible for breaking deals down, stocking in new and used vehicles, ordering supplies, as well as other office duties as they come about.
