Job Title: Installation Technician – Commercial Vehicle Conversions

Location: Columbus, OH

Position Summary:
Buckeye Body and Equipment is looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined Installation Technician to join our growing team. In this role, youll be responsible for performing final-stage vehicle conversions on commercial trucks (Class 1–6), including installing flatbeds, service bodies, dump bodies, and other vocational equipment. Youll also outfit commercial fleet vehicles with in-service packages such as telecommunication systems, safety equipment, lighting, and other work-ready components.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install flatbeds, service bodies, dump bodies, cranes, liftgates, and other upfit components on cab chassis and pickups.

- Install commercial fleet in-service packages such as camera systems, GPS/telematics, safety lights, ladder racks, and custom equipment.

- Read and interpret work orders, installation guides, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

- Use hand and power tools to perform mechanical, electrical, and light fabrication work.

- Perform quality checks to ensure all installations are safe, clean, and functional.

- Move and position vehicles safely within the shop as needed.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area and take pride in craftsmanship.

- Communicate with supervisors and team members to resolve any installation challenges.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Must be mechanically inclined and comfortable working on trucks and vehicle systems.

- Previous experience in automotive, truck, or equipment assembly or installation is a plus.

- Welding and fabrication skills are a bonus, but not required.

- Must own basic hand tools; specialty tools and equipment will be provided.

- Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and technical manuals.

- Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technologies.

- Strong work ethic, team-oriented attitude, and attention to detail.

- Valid drivers license required; CDL is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and use of ladders.

- Comfortable working in a hands-on, shop environment.
