About this role

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Manage the Technical Services and Support department in the assigned unit(s) by close cooperation with the organization's functions, coaching and training of staff and active involvement in operational matters to make sure that Performance Coatings business in the local unit is operating with safe and efficient systems by competent staff for paints specifications, guarantee handling, claims management, sales support, technical training and technical service. Direct and main departmental responsible for technical risk management, strategic customer support and ensuring the availability of competent technical resources to protect and develop the Performance Coatings business.

- Ensure the technical integrity of how Performance Coatings products and systems are sold and applied within the assigned unit(s) by managing replies to technical questions related to coating systems, specifications, guarantees, and application, to ensure expected coatings performance and minimisation of risk of claims.

- Manage the technical part of Performance Coatings complaint processes within the assigned unit(s) by ensuring   a timely   conclusion to complaints and feedback to customers accordingly   in order to   ensure that Jotun is perceived as a preferred and professional supplier.

- Drive the internal learning from complaints processes by regular review meetings, action plans and follow up,   identifying   root cause, corrective actions and   monitoring   the efficiency of corrective actions to minimise risk of repetition

- Ensure proactive technical risk management through structured assessment of specifications, guarantees, major projects, deviations and complaints, safeguarding Jotun's technical,   commercial   and reputational interests. Ensuring that key accounts and major complaints are   attended by urgency, priority and to the best standards.

- Through training ensure that the knowledge is transferred to the local organisation, general technical knowledge as well as detailed specific product knowledge and knowledge of Jotun's global working processes within Marine and Protective coatings to ensure competent and committed staff in line with market needs.

- Support sales processes with technical   expertise   through customer presentations, documentation, standards etc., to ensure that Jotun is perceived as the preferred paint supplier in the assigned unit(s) using commercially correct specifications, risk control instruments, and global policies.

- Manage   local technical documentation   and statements by creating and   monitoring   technical statements and documentation   to ensure   that local documentation is in line with   local market needs and global   guidelines.

- Manage and lead the team by developing,   guiding   and supporting team members and ensuring the staffing and competence profile of the team is fit-for-purpose   in order to   achieve agreed   objectives   and performance.

- Support the R&D function by carrying out trial applications and field testing of new and existing products to ensure suitability within the market that the position is technically responsible for.

- Create   and implement a   local development plan based on the global TSS strategic direction by formulating and following up on activities and focus   areas   in order to   support the development of the Performance Coatings business   locally and   in Jotun.

- Ensure the development of a competent,   organized   and close-knit technical service team with potential cross segments (Marine and/or Protective).

- Ensure the technical Service policies, procedures, and operating structure are in place to ensure Jotun’s quality standard is met

- Develop the local   Technical Services and Support   business plans and dept. operations including budget development both sort and long term, in line with Marine and Protective strategy

- Provide technical leadership and support to strategic customers, key   accounts   and major projects, ensuring alignment between customer expectations, project   requirements   and Jotun technical standards.

Qualifications &   Experience

- Technical   High School   or Engineer Degree
- At least 5 years experience in similar roles
- Frosio Level 3 / Nace Certification
- Excellent communication skills
- Passionate Team Spirit,  e xperience in people management and across different cultures
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities​
- Systematic approach, plans ahead, defines clear priorities and allocates resources effectively
- ​ English fluent (spoken and written)
- P referable   location   Greater   Hamburg  Area. We also consider applications from all European countries
- Available to travel
