POSITION   SUMMARY:

The Atlanta Fed’s Community and Economic Development Department supports the central bank’s mandate of stable prices and maximum employment by helping improve the economic opportunity of low-   and moderate-income   populations   and underserved place s   for a stronger economy for all Americans.   To this end, t he Department seeks a Community and Economic Development Research Advisor /Senior Advisor   to   p roduce   original   quantitative   research papers   and   reports on   topics related to   affordable housin g , housing policy,   or broader housing dynamics   affecting   low- and moderate-income populations.

The   Advisor/ Senior Advisor e stablishes   an   annual research agenda   aligned with   the   Community and Economic Development   mission and   strategy ;   c ontributes to   the   Bank's objective of   remaining   a knowledge center   for applied research   by writing ;   giv es   speeches and talk s   to outside audiences ;   and   collaborat es   on research projects   with Community and Economic Development colleagues ,   research economists , and other Bank staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Writing

- Leads research design and writing of   quantitative   research on   affordable housing   topics .   Identifies new research   opportunities and proposes   a   research agenda.

- Produces   written reports for publication in   the D epartment’s   D iscussion   P apers   and   short-form   publications and may   author academic journal publications   as appropriate .

Engagement and Translation of Research

- Translates quantitative research into actionable insights for housing stakeholders throughout the Sixth District.

- Develops and maintains relationships with other researchers and practitioners   in   support   the Department's research and engagement strategy.

Monitoring and Analysis

- Through data analysis and a network of community contacts,   contributes to   the regular monitoring of affordable housing trends and   related   issues in the Sixth District.

- Brief s   Bank leadership on Sixth District affordable housing trends and   related   issues   to enhance understanding of barriers and opportunities experienced by   low-   and   moderate - income populations.

Departmental Engagement

- Mentors   Community and Economic Development analysts   and staff.

- C ontribute s   to the overall research environment by   attending   internal   seminars   and   providing feedback on other’s work .

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required

- Advanced   degree in   P ublic   P olicy ,   E conomics, or a related   quantitative   social science field   or commensurate   research   experience in   an   affordable housing topical area.

- Experience   independently   designing and co mpleting   research projects .

- Established   r ecord of applied and/or scholarly publication   on topics related to   affordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations .

- Demonstrated knowledge of   advanced quantitative   research   methods .

Preferred

- Ph . D .   in   Public Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field .

- E xperience communicating research to a broader audience of practitioners and policymakers .

Additional Requirements:

- This position will require   at   minimum fingerprinting for a criminal background check,   education   and employment verification, along with potential   additional   screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of any required background screening. These screenings would be   initiated   at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to approximately 8 weeks to be completed. The screening covers areas such as education/employment verification, criminal history, credit history, and reaches out to your references and people that know you well.

- For   Law Enforcement   positions, physical, psychological, drug, stress/EKG, and attending an academy will be   required .
