The Shuttle Driver is responsible for driving the summer and fall seasonal AMC Hiker Shuttle. They will need to be able to safely operate a high occupancy vehicle that makes regular stops at predetermined locations throughout the White Mountains. They will need to be able to provide quality customer service to passengers as well as accurate information about the trails and surrounding region.

AMC facilities are critical providers of high-quality education, safety, and outdoor recreation and conservation services to tens of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts annually. Operated on public land, these facilities will need to operate at the highest possible standard. Our partnership with the United States Forest Service and close cooperative ties to state and local authorities demand that our services be the best we can possibly produce.

What youll be doing at AMC:

- Successfully meet all AMC standards for operating a high capacity passenger vehicle.

- Successfully pass the screening and testing for a DOT Driver Card.

- Maintain a safe drivers record during the entire term of employment.

- Learn and demonstrate knowledge of AMC vehicle protocols and operate AMC vehicles is a safe manner at all times.

- Follow all procedures provided by the Visitor Services Supervisor for operating the daily shuttle and meeting all regularly scheduled stops on the prearranged route.

- Work to meet AMC membership sales targets as assigned to support the clubs public service efforts

- Assist the Information Desk with frontline coverage as requested.

- Provide accurate trail and area information to passengers as requested.

- Promote AMC membership to all passengers and effectively assist the Visitor Services staff in selling memberships to passengers.

- Collect daily fees from walk-on passengers and follow AMC financial money handling protocols to submit fees to the accounting department at the end of every shift.

- Attend training all meetings at PNVC and other AMC facilities as required.

- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What AMC is looking for:

- Familiarity with the White Mountain National Forest and a proactive attitude regarding AMC programs and mission is strongly preferred.

- Drivers license with acceptable driving record based on AMC standards is mandatory.

- A DOT license is preferred but not mandatory.

- Physical abilities required: Most work is performed in a standard office environment. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds from floor to waist high.

- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Salary range: $14.36/hr

The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
