The position is part of Sierra Sheet & Plate located in Covington, GA, and will require the person to be hands-on and spend extensive time on the manufacturing floor, responsible for the daily management of various production departments within the plant, enforcing safety procedures, operating procedures/instructions, trouble shooting. This position will work in conjunction with the Director of Operations.

The position is classified as full-time, Non-Exempt. This position may also require occasional long hours and weekend work.

- Support the development, training and management of production employees.

- Key involvement of the Safety and PPE requirements within the plant, for all employees, visitors, and contractors.

- Work with operating crews (and others) to improve the quality and efficiency of the process/product. Drive and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

- Responsible for understanding the work order process, follow through on the specs and requirements while completing inspection to ensure a conforming product.

- Be involved in daily production meetings with various team members and departments to plan and execute the daily requirements needed.

- Responsible for being involved in Train the Trainer program to be complying to conduct forklift certifications.

- Work with Human Resources Manager engaging in interview process for new hires, training development. To include communication on staffing needs, feedback on performance, counseling, etc.

- Outside of the daily functions there will be the opportunity and expectations of supporting additional departments on a supervisory level.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED preferred

- 3 to 5 years manufacturing leading experience.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deliverables.

- Communicates and promotes continuous improvement culture and efforts with their teams.

- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

- Must be able to speak fluent English.
