Interventional Vascular Technologists are   specialized   Interventional Radiologists that support the most   cutting-edge   therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic.   They provide technical   assistance   in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as   a cquire   all imaging and post processing of images.   In this role, you will help patients get back on the road to wellness through these minimally invasive procedures that allow for a faster recovery time.

A caregiver in this position works   day/evening/night/weekend| 7:00am—10:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

- Utilize sterile or aseptic   technique   to scrub in and perform vascular,   interventional   and surgical procedures per protocol.

- Educate patients   regarding   procedures,   equipment   and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

- Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.

- Set-up or   operate   injector   to administer contrast agents for procedures.

- Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is   utilized .

- Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.

- Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug   interactions   and major effects.

- Record and   maintain   procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic   time   and procedural information.

- Monitor equipment and systems, clean equipment,   and effect   timely   repair.

- Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

- Graduate of an accredited school of   R adiologic   T echnology

- Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists   R.T.(R) (ARRT)   and in good standing

- Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist   (RL)

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

- Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy

- Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

- One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist

- Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)( CV)( ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)( VI)( ARRT)

- Previous   experience in a   high-volume   angiography department

Physical Requirements:

- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
