Personal Support Worker (PSW)

This position is for our 242-bed Long-Term Care Home, Laurier Manor , l ocated in Ottawa , Ontario on 1715 Montreal Rd .
Available opportu nities include: Part-time ; Day/Evening/Night shifts
Shifts defined : Days 6:30 - 4:30, Evenings 14:30 – 22:30, Nights 22:30 – 6:30
What you’ll be doing
- Assist residents with mobility , feeding, bathing , toileting and personal grooming
- Encourage resident participation in activit ies and programs
- Provide emotional and social support to residents and families
What you bring
- Completed a PSW Pr ogram ce rtification that meets the appropriate standards as required for the position
- BSO certification preferred
- Able to perform physical tasks and duties, in cluding frequent bending, reaching and lifting
- C ompassion, professionalism, and respect
- Ability to provide care in accordance with application legislation, job routines, nursing care plans, ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English
- Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred
- Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents/ patients and families
