About Handshake AI
Human data is the core infrastructure to AI advancement. Frontier AI labs currently improve model capabilities with various data-intensive post-training techniques. We believe that data spend for AI training will increase by 3-5x in the next few years and continue for much longer as models take on new domains. Handshake AI supports all of the frontier AI labs, working on their most complex data at the largest scale.
About the Role
Handshake AI Enterprise is a new business unit building AI-powered applications for the world's largest companies. We deploy small, expert teams directly into enterprise environments — deeply learning each customer's business, defining where AI can drive real impact, and building and iterating on agents that automate their most critical workflows. We're not a consulting firm and we're not selling software. We're building and deploying AI that measurably changes how enterprises operate.
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer who obsesses over how products look, feel, and perform — and has the technical depth to bring that vision to life.
You'll own the frontend of AI applications we build and deploy directly inside enterprise customer environments. That means working closely with customers to understand their workflows, translating complex requirements into clean, intuitive interfaces, and building experiences that are fast, accessible, and genuinely delightful to use.
This is not a role for engineers who treat UI as an afterthought. We believe the frontend is where AI becomes real for users — and you'll be the person who makes it feel that way.
Location: San Francisco, CA | 5 days/week in-office
- Own the frontend of AI applications deployed into enterprise customer environments, from initial build through iteration
- Work directly with customers to understand their workflows, pain points, and what a great experience looks like in their context
- Build fast, accessible, and polished interfaces that make complex AI interactions feel simple and intuitive
- Establish and maintain a component system and design language that scales across customer deployments
- Collaborate closely with Applied AI and Platform engineers on your deployment team to ship cohesive, production-grade solutions
- Iterate rapidly based on real usage and customer feedback, with tight feedback loops
- Surface insights from customer deployments that inform Handshake's core product direction
Desired Capabilities
- 5–6+ years of frontend engineering experience with a strong product sensibility
- Expert-level proficiency with ReactJS and TypeScript, with deep knowledge of frontend performance, component architecture, and design systems
- Strong eye for design — you care about spacing, typography, motion, and interaction quality, not just functional correctness
- Experience building production-grade web applications that real users rely on daily
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with real customers and real stakes
- Ability to move across the stack when needed — you're primarily frontend, but you can hold your own end-to-end
- Strong communication skills — you'll be in customer conversations regularly and need to translate between business needs and product decisions
Extra Credit
- Experience building or integrating AI-powered features in production, customer-facing products
- Background working in or alongside enterprise deployment environments
- History of close collaboration with designers, or a background in design yourself
- Experience building and maintaining shared component libraries or design systems
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and performance optimization at scale
