As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will play an essential role in the patient care journey, from arr ival through discharge, by safely transporting patients, cleaning and turning over operating rooms between cases, delivering specimens   to the appropriate labs, and helping maintain a safe, sanitary and efficient surgical environment throughout the pavilion. The Surgical Services Support Technician safely transports patients to   designated   areas per nursing request. This position requires the caregiver to be able to multi-task and prioritize patient related and cleaning tasks.

The Surgical Services Support Technician   maintains   and controls support services equipment and supplies. Additionally, this caregiver   maintains   the operating room environment in an   aesthetically   safe and sanitary condition.

The following   shifts   are available :

6 a.m - 2:30 p.m.

10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

2 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

10:30 p.m. -- 6:30 p.m.

11 p.m. -- 7:30 a.m.

If weekend availability is required for this role, it will be built into your regular schedule. In that case, your workweek would be scheduled either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday.

Working holiday shifts is voluntary.

Responsibilities:

- Escort and direct customers to the   a ppropriate source   for   a ssistance .

- Provide a safe environment for patients and their families.

- Comply with   entering job tasks in electronic computer software programs.

- Assist   nursing service with prepping and shaving patients for surgery.

- Coordinate and   maintain   Uniform Room activities such as locker assignments and scrubs for all operating room personnel.

- Properly   handle   and   dispose   of hazardous waste.

- Comply with   special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection   control   surgical cases.

Minimum qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED

- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period

- One year customer service experience and experience working in a team environment

Physical Requirements:

- Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more.
- Exposure to body fluids.
- Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area.
- Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.

Personal Protective Equipment:

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
