Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Performs custodial work as assigned by the Director of Security and Operations (i.e., cleans, sanitizes, maintains and provides for the general upkeep of building facilities and grounds by performing a variety of duties, including, but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, scrubbing, stripping, sealing and waxing floors; removing spots and graffiti; cleaning, dusting and polishing woodwork, furniture, glass and other items; washing walls, fixtures, windows, drinking fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures and painted surfaces; servicing soap and towel dispensers and similar containers; cleaning marker boards and trays; emptying trash and recycling bins; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and locker rooms; moving furniture and equipment; operating and maintaining powered sweepers and polishers; attending to emergency cleaning needs such as spills and accidents, etc.);
2) Ensures all cleaning agents and maintenance equipment are utilized in accordance with label instructions and in accordance with prescribed safety precautions to maintain the safety of students, school employees, custodians and visitors;
3) Ensures all doors, rooms and buildings are secured after daily use and servicing;
4) Works with team to manage inventory for all cleaning and custodial supplies and equipment; submits purchase requests within budget allocations;
5) Works with team to schedule summer custodial detail cleaning;
6) Notifies Director of Security and Operations of any building and/or equipment maintenance needs; and
7) Performs related duties as assigned by Director of Security and Operations.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
The employee must speak English fluently and have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Work performed by the employee requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, pushing, grasping, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee works on a daily basis with dangerous and toxic cleaning products that can cause injury, sickness and/or skin irritation if not handled properly.
The employee also regularly has to clean up bodily fluids that are unpleasant. The job can be stressful and demanding dealing with a wide variety of challenges including, but not limited to, interruptions from co-workers, unpleasant situations, dealing with emergency situations, and time constraints.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School Equivalent Degree,
Minimum one year custodial experience preferred, and
Must be punctual, a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and as a team member.
