About this role

Responsibility Areas

- Operate the DCS/PLC for plants startup and shutdown operations to meet Company’s objectives and production targets.

- Experience on ABB/YOKOGAWA/Honeywell DCS is desirable

- Experience in ESD (Emergency shutdown) system

- Monitor and control all process parameter conditions such as flow rates, pressures, temperatures, levels, etc, through displays, graphics and trend logs.

- Communicate with field operators for parameter adjustments in field.

- Hands on operational experience on handing high pressure reactors, continuous distillation columns, catalytic reactors, scrubbers, process gas compressors as well as batch plants

- Report to Shift In charges/in charge in case of parameter abnormalities and process deviations immediately.

- Makes minor plant adjustments when necessary and reports any serious faults to the In charge of appropriate remedial actions, implements immediately the approved actions, procedures and standard emergency responses.

- Takes immediate corrective actions to limit risk to personnel, plant equipment and production during emergency situations.

- Maintain operational logs, historians parameters tuning, interlock management alarm fault register and analysis of the same to reduce the alarm frequency along with operational stability

- Monitor & control the usage of raw materials, chemicals and other plant utilities effectively to an optimum level in safe manner.

- Prepare & assist in preparation of necessary plant - operational reports as requested by Production In charge or Team Leader.

- Ensure the safe shutdown, isolation and blow down of relevant Section / plant during emergency situations.

- Lead as DCS operator and assist for PSSR activity, pre-commissioning and commissioning of plant.

- Based on requirements and Guidance of shift in charge or manager support provision for the project and other activities.

- Assist in studying the problem and issues arising in the operation and process to identify suitable remedial measures.

- Identify and investigate the faults and inform the concerned departments, for remedial action.

- Adhere to Company’s HSE policy, standards and approved operating procedures while performing the duties / tasks.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by In charge such as taking part in training / developing new operating staff

- Generation/preparation of necessary reports, updating BMR, plant shutdown and startup procedures, etc

- Coordinates and executes normal and critical operations including equipment or facility start-up, shutdown (normal & emergency) and turnaround related activities from the control room while cooperating with and providing direction to field operators. At times may be required to participate and support field activities.

- Read processing schedules, operating logs, test results of lab samples to determine changes in equipment controls, required to produce specified quantity and quality of product.

- Participates in Operating Procedure and Manual development process.
