Upstate South Carolina | Contract-to-Hire | Hybrid Flexibility
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnering with a well-established local government organization in Upstate South Carolina to identify a Director of Finance for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This position offers the opportunity to lead financial operations for a growing municipality while serving as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and elected officials.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial operations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
- Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards
- Manage general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and utility billing functions
- Coordinate annual audits and financial compliance activities
- Administer grant accounting and reporting
- Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and procedures
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership and governing boards
- Supervise finance and administrative staff members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, budgeting, audit, or governmental finance experience
- Municipal or government accounting experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, budgeting, audit processes, and internal controls
- CPA designation preferred
- Experience with Harris SmartFusion or similar municipal ERP systems highly desirable
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Compensation & Work Environment
- $40-$45/hour
- Contract-to-hire opportunity
- On-site presence preferred with potential hybrid flexibility
- High-visibility role working closely with executive leadership and governing officials
