The YMCA focus is to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Provide service to members and the community as well as maintain a clean, safe facility. Will perform routine functions and be responsible for various grounds maintenance and repair functions relating to landscaping, operation of equipment, installation, and repair of related equipment. Have a thorough understanding of YMCA program procedures and practices while exemplifying the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Remove trash from grounds and buildings daily.
- Assist maintenance director with routine maintenance of facility and grounds.
- Including, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, repairs to building and equipment and painting.
- Overall, maintaining a high quality of repair and appearance of the entire grounds.
- Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the YMCA and in the community.
- Communicate effectively with staff and members.
- Set up and take down rooms for activities as directed.
- Attends all staff meetings, required training sessions and special events.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum age of 16 years or older.
- Must be able to operate all equipment.
- Must be willing to work outdoors.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good character, integrity and adaptability.
- Ability to learn to do tasks as assigned.
- Ability to accept supervision and excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiasm, patience, and self-control.
- Successful completion of background screening.
- Acquire and maintain the following certifications within 30 days of hire date via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI):
First Aid/CPR /AED (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
- Requisite Redwoods Online Training Modules (completed prior to start date and repeated annually).
Physical Demands:
- Must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Perform related physical skills including: bending, lifting, squatting, reaching, standing, walking, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; crouch, or crawl.
- Must be willing to work nontraditional hours.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally life and/or move up to 100 pounds.
