MSD (Multi Spindle Drill) Operator (Temp-to-Hire)

Shift:  2nd 3:30pm-2am

Location:  Houston, TX 77082 (Energy Corridor)

Start:  ASAP

Pay:  $17-$19.00/ hour

Summary

The MSD Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining multi-spindle drilling machines to produce precision components. The MSD Operator ensures parts meet quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Functions

- Set up and operate multi-spindle drilling machines to perform drilling operations on metal or other materials
- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and work orders
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain performance
- Load and unload materials into the machine
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces for proper machining
- Perform machine tool changes and minor program adjustments as needed
- Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensional accuracy

Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitor machining operations to ensure quality and efficiency
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness of the area
- Adhere to all safety rules, PPE requirements, and company policies
- And other tasks assigned by supervision or management

Education/Experience

- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- 1-3 years’ experience completing Machining tasks
- Experience in Manufacturing/fabrication specializing in the waterworks industry or related
Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:
- Understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
- Ability to use precision measuring tools
- Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Basic mathematics
- Basic computer experience
- Ability to pay attention to detail

Physical Demands & Work Environment

- Able to lift and move up to 45 pounds during a 10-hour shift
- Frequently required to stand, bend, and lift during a 10-hour shift
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators and protective gear
- Able to work in various climate conditions
- Exposure to moving machinery, heavy materials, and grinding equipment
- Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required
- Must pass background and drug screen
