Job Description Summary

The general labor position performs various duties under the direct supervision of the lead/team leader and will work in different areas of the plant; raw receiving, process, packaging, and warehouse.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities in the following; other duties may be assigned.

- Set up and   break down   totes to staging areas via hand jack.

- Properly stack   knocked-down   totes and pallets.

- Operate equipment including power hand jack and tote dump.

- Hand stack cases of finished products as assigned.

- Perform major cleanup activities as assigned.

- Rework damaged or restricted cases and bags of product

- Work in   raw receiving cleaning, pulling rocks and vines as assigned.

- When   in raw receiving   c lean ing   Rock Trap (Flodin) minimum of once a shift

- Assist Unloader in setting up dry sizing equipment.

- Communicate equipment issues with unloader, operator, lead, or team   leader

Trim   Responsibilities :

- Trim all defects, sprouts, etc., from potatoes according to specific instructions from the Trim Lead, Shift Supervisor ,   or QA Department personnel.

- Sorts and removes undesirable potatoes from the trim conveyor according to specific instructions from the Trim Lead, Shift Supervisor ,   or QA Department personnel.

- Removes all trash, such as vines, sprouts, rocks, etc. from   the   trim conveyor.

- Trims potatoes in   a timely   efficient manner   in order to   effectively minimize waste.

Frozen Inspect ion   Responsibilities:

- Responsible for ensuring the finished product is free from all foreign material and gross defects .

- Sorts and removes   the   undesirable product from the conveyor according to specific instructions .

- Removes   all foreign material from   the   conveyor.

Overall Responsibilities:

- Complete all CIL (Clean, Inspect, lube) tasks at the required   frequency

- Actively practice and abide by all company work, safety ,   and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee   handbook

- Actively   be engaged   in safety,   participate   in daily risk assessments,   and   safety activities, and   demonstrate   ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.

- Report all incidents, near hits, and any safety concerns   immediately   to   the   lead/team   leader.

- Follow all PPE and GMP requirements.

- Perform daily sanitation activities   includ ing:   regular cleaning, rinsing equipment, sweeping, squeegeeing, shoveling,   raking, vacuuming, using air or water hose, scraping, pulling vines,   and moving waste bins.

- Follow all   lock-out / tag-out   procedures for assigned work   areas   and complete annual validation.

- Complete all necessary certifications as assigned for the General Labor position which may   include:   pallet jack certification, confined space, fire watch, forklift, and scissor lift.

- Train new team members in the position of general labor.

- Perform other duties as assigned by   the   Lead or Shift Supervisor.

- Brooms
- Shovels
- Squeezes
- Rakes
- Pallet truck

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required .

No   previous   experience required .

Language Skills

Ability to speak, read and write in English is   required

Must be able to communicate well, understand ,   and comprehend verbal & written instruction.

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to add, subtract,   multiply   and divide using a calculator.

Must be able to use and understand basic math and have minimal mechanical ability.

Computer Skills

None   required , but basic computer skills   desired .

Physical Demands

Must have ample coordination to perform   t he   above-listed   duties.

Must be able to   lift up   to 50   lbs   occasionally .

Must be able to climb stairs   &   ladders

Must   possess   sufficient hand/eye coordination to manipulate raw   product   and   utilize   trim knives.

Must be able to   maintain   a   m inimum trim rate of 16 potatoes per mi n ute.

Must be able to work over a moving conveyor without experiencing motion sickness.

Must be able to stand for   long periods .

Must be able to climb stairs   & walk in   wet   slippery areas.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.   Must be able to work in various temperatures such   as;   hot or cold.   The   employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role is listed below.
