This position will train on 1st shift before moving to the hired schedule.

Position Summary

The Set-Up Technician is responsible for the setup, teardown, and maintenance of extrusion tooling and downstream equipment. This role ensures the efficient operation of extrusion lines and the production of high-quality parts in accordance with setup sheets, specifications, and safety protocols. The Set-Up Technician works collaboratively with production and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain product standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Equipment Setup and Operation

Set up and tear down extrusion tooling and downstream equipment including single and twin-screw extruders.

- Operate and maintain auxiliary equipment such as hopper dryers, Sterlco screw cooling units, Movacolor units, calibration tanks, pullers, cutters, saws, and spattercoat spray lines.

- Prepare cartons, skids, and tooling for upcoming extrusion orders.

- Production and Quality Control

Produce quality products in accordance with company procedures, extrusion setup sheets, and work instructions.

- Complete and maintain dimensional charts, check sheets, and other required production documentation.

- Update setup sheets and related documents as needed.

- Inspection and Measurement

Inspect parts using appropriate measurement tools including calipers, gauges, digital rules, tape measures, spectrophotometers, and gloss meters.

- Ensure parts meet specification sheet requirements and quality standards .

- Troubleshooting and Support

Diagnose and resolve extrusion-related issues to maintain product quality and line efficiency.

- Assist other extrusion lines when necessary and support cross-functional teams with operational problem-solving.

- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and quality across operations.

- Safety and Housekeeping

Operate forklifts as needed in compliance with safety protocols.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is kept in working condition.

- Follow all safety guidelines and participate in the upkeep of the plant environment.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Minimum of 1 year prior manufacturing or factory experience.

- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of extrusion processes and materials.

- Ability to interpret and follow setup sheets, specification sheets, and quality standards.

- Forklift operation experience preferred.
