Job Title: Pharmacy Technician: Rare Orphan Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a role focused on rare orphan medications. You will be responsible for processing prescription insurance information, adjudicating pharmacy claims, managing patient communications, and ensuring the delivery of medications.
Responsibilities
- Locate and enter accurate prescription insurance information on patient profiles by processing eligibility checks and adjudicating pharmacy claims.
- Adjudicate claims and troubleshoot rejections to communicate correct information to patients.
- Communicate the need for medication prior authorization to providers and act as a resource during the PA process.
- Manage inbound calls from patients, clients, physicians, practitioners, and clinics regarding inquiries about order status, services provided, and financial support options.
- Serve as a technical resource for adjudication while identifying areas for improvement.
- Enter detailed, accurate, and grammatically correct progress notes for proper documentation on patient profiles.
- Contact patients to schedule medication delivery and payment, ensuring accurate information in their profiles for timely distribution.
- Manage patient refill coordination and follow-up to ensure adherence to therapy plans.
- Identify and report adverse events and product complaints to clinicians for patient safety.
Essential Skills
- Pharmacy technician certification
- 2+ years of pharmacy operation experience
- Experience in data entry and customer service
- NC Registered (NCBOP) preferred
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Prior experience working in a pharmacy setting required
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Competent in basic computer skills
- Multi-task oriented
- Ability to effectively work with people
- Conscientious and detail-oriented
- Flexible and adaptable
Work Environment
The role operates in a call center environment, with work hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. The team is on-site during these hours, with the potential for a hybrid schedule if the role becomes permanent. The office is closed on weekends and major holidays, ensuring work-life balance. There is no direct patient contact.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Cary, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
