About the Department
Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department is a busy 24-hour service providing care to the diverse communities of Melbourne's south-east. With 55 treatment spaces, including four resuscitation bays, a 20-bed Short Stay Unit and a dedicated fast track area, the department manages a broad range of emergency presentations across medical, surgical, orthopaedic, mental health and paediatric specialties.
About the Role
Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager – Equipment/Resource Portfolio on a part time (0.8 EFT / 64 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday), fixed term (until September 2027) basis to work at Dandenong Emergency Department.
This is a non-clinical role focused on the management of equipment and resources across the department, including:
- Coordinating the procurement, ordering, receipt, storage and maintenance of appropriate stock levels for both disposable and non-disposable items, including auditing requisitions and monitoring inventory
- Providing leadership and coordination for the Emergency Department Equipment Team, including chairing regular meetings and driving continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Coordinating and facilitating trials and evaluations of new clinical equipment, products and consumables to ensure suitability, safety and alignment with clinical needs
- Acting as a key resource for Emergency Department staff on equipment and supply issues, and liaising with medical equipment suppliers, sales representatives and technical consultants
- You will also manage and maintain Emergency Department staffing systems, including daily allocations, roster management, UKG updates, shift swaps and roster audits, using workforce management systems such as ShiftMatch.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
- Advanced clinical and technical competence in the setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex clinical equipment used within the Emergency Department
- Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify, investigate and resolve equipment-related issues in a timely and effective manner
- Strong organisational and resource management skills, including the ability to prioritise competing demands and ensure equipment and stock resources are available to support patient care
- Well-developed leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
Mandatory requirements of the role:
- Clinical Nurse Specialist or above in an Emergency Department is essential
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)
- Post-graduate studies in management or leadership (desirable)
