About this role

Summary

Performs a variety of skilled tasks associated with the trade of locksmith

Essential Duties

- Utilizes schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and complete various task which include setting key schedules for a facility, working with a master key system such as Best Locks; follows manufacturer’s manuals and specific documentation for prepping doors to receive hardware components, pinning lock cores and/or duplication of keys

- Replaces and/or installs new equipment to improve operations and security

- Utilizes hand tools, testing and diagnostic equipment, and simple machine tools such as key cutting machine, grinders, and portable electric tools appropriate to the trade to complete assigned tasks

- Improvises acceptable fixes, if necessary, to get equipment and fixtures working properly while maintaining safety and security in the facility

- Works with manufacturers’ representatives to set key schedules per Fulton County Schools’ standards

- Works with school or facility representative to maintain facilities key box

- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
## Certification/Licensure

Valid Georgia Driver License required Must be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers Locksmith certification training preferred
## Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience required, 5 years preferred
## Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the locksmith trade and a "Master" key system
- Skilled in use of hand and power tools related to the trade
- Skilled in key duplication, picking locks and pinning cores
- Knowledge of all codes relating to the trade
- Technical problem-solving skills
- Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
- Must be able to work variable shifts

Working Conditions

- Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
- Must be able to work from tall ladders

Physical Demands

- Typically requires standing, climbing ladders, pushing and/or pulling
- Requires excellent manual dexterity to handle required tools
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
