Job Title: Commercial Construction Superintendent Job Description This role offers the opportunity to join a growing small general contractor in the Baltimore market as a Commercial Construction Superintendent. You will oversee interior commercial projects, including office, retail, hospitality, and secure spaces such as SCIF rooms, typically up to approximately $3 million in value. The position focuses on leading field operations, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining strong communication with project stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day field operations for interior commercial construction projects, including office, retail, hospitality, and secure spaces such as SCIF rooms.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors on site, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Create, manage, and update project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are clearly defined and met.
- Monitor and help manage project budgets in collaboration with the project team, identifying issues early and supporting cost control efforts.
- Review and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and specifications to guide field activities and resolve on-site questions.
- Order and track materials to ensure timely delivery and availability of resources needed to keep the project on schedule.
- Coordinate required permits and inspections with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Enforce and promote safety standards on project sites, ensuring all workers follow established safety policies and procedures.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication between owners, project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Lead and participate in on-site meetings, including subcontractor coordination meetings and progress updates.
- Partner with a Sr superintendent to align on project approaches, best practices, and company standards.
- Support issue resolution on site by proactively addressing conflicts, delays, and field changes in collaboration with the project team.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent.
- Hands-on experience with secure space and SCIF room projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Proven experience in schedule coordination and schedule creation for construction projects.
- Demonstrated subcontractor management skills, including coordination, oversight, and performance monitoring.
- Experience with material ordering and tracking for commercial construction projects.
- Ability to coordinate and lead meetings, including subcontractor and project coordination meetings.
- Working knowledge of construction management principles and field operations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with owners, project teams, and subcontractors.
- Commitment to maintaining safe job sites and enforcing safety practices.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
