The Role and Context

Reporting to the Director, Accounting & Financial Operations, you will be responsible for the complete and accurate recording of company transactions in accordance with Canadian GAAP (ASPE) standards. This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, accounts payable management, process improvement, and month-end close responsibilities. You will be expected to take ownership of assigned accounting tasks/projects, proactively identify and resolve issues, and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting processes.

We've been at this for 10 years, partnering with major North American retailers across thousands of stores and millions of shoppers, continuously refining a model with strong unit economics and real flywheel dynamics. We're growth stage, well-capitalized by leading investors including General Catalyst and S2G, and at an inflection point in scale.

What You'll Do

- Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals and balance sheet reviews

- Maintain the general ledger in Netsuite, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting

- Manage daily and monthly cash reporting and related banking activities

- Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations

- Prepare all journal entries including prepaids, fixed assets and accruals

- Prepare weekly vendor payment runs

- Prepare monthly sales tax filings for Canada and US to ensure compliance

- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial transactions

- Responsible for maintaining the chart of accounts including the creation of new GL accounts

- Support the annual audit and tax filing requests

- Responsible for preparing month-end investor and compliance related financial reporting

- Proactively collaborate with the business to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded, including accrual journal entries

- Lead process improvement and data clean-up initiatives across corporate accounting, including standardizing chart of accounts, reconciliation templates, and reporting workpapers to support scalability and audit readiness

- Identify and drive opportunities to incorporate AI and automation tools into corporate accounting workflows

- Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, lead report automation and process improvement opportunities

- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required

What You'll Bring

- 4+ years of accounting experience, with a foundation in accounting or financial reporting from industry

- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE) and/or US GAAP/IFRS

- Experience with US and Canadian sales tax filing requirements is preferred

- CPA designation is a plus, though not required

- Netsuite proficiency is a must

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google Suite

- Familiarity with tools such as Tipalti and Float/Ramp is a plus, though not required

- Familiarity with AI-powered tools such as Claude to build and improve accounting and reporting workflows, with genuine enthusiasm for using them day to day

- A process improvement mindset, with a track record of identifying inefficiencies and building better ways of working

- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and ramp quickly in a fast moving environment

- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and positive team player attitude.
