Medical Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role involves direct patient care, basic laboratory procedures, patient education, EHR documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple clinic locations in the Knoxville, Morristown, and Athens areas. Clinic schedules are provided in advance.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and record patient vital signs accurately.
- Room and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Explain clinical procedures and answer patient questions.
- Perform basic laboratory testing and phlebotomy as needed.
- Document patient information and clinical activities in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
- Assist with medical coding and related documentation.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Float between Knoxville, Morristown, and Athens clinic locations as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, or equivalent) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of anatomy, vital signs, and basic clinical procedures.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of Medical Assistant experience.
- Experience in emergency medicine, geriatrics, or specialty care settings.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices.
- X-ray certification.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Primary clinic location in the Knoxville area.
- Travel between Knoxville, Morristown, and Athens clinic locations may be required; schedules are provided in advance.
- Fast-paced, patient-focused clinical setting utilizing EHR systems, laboratory equipment, and standard clinical tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
