Safety Worxs is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to support the high-profile Dam project in Washington. This is a field-focused safety role supporting construction operations and ensuring compliance with project safety requirements, EM 385-1-1 , OSHA regulations, and established safety procedures.
The position will initially support the project on its current schedule and is expected to transition to night shift over time . The ideal candidate has hands-on construction safety experience, is comfortable working independently in the field, and can effectively identify hazards and work with project teams to implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and identify, document, and assist with correcting hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Support implementation of project safety programs in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and project-specific requirements.
- Assist with the development and implementation of project-specific safety plans and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Develop and document Daily Risk Assessments (DRAs) and other required safety documentation.
- Participate in daily coordination meetings, pre-task planning, and safety discussions.
- Monitor field activities and reinforce safe work practices with employees and subcontractors.
- Identify safety equipment and material needs for upcoming work activities.
- Assist with incident investigations, documentation, root-cause identification, and corrective actions.
- Provide first aid and emergency response support as needed.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and assist with resolving safety deficiencies.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field safety briefings.
- Maintain accurate inspection, observation, incident, and corrective-action records.
- Track safety observations and identify recurring hazards or trends requiring additional attention.
- Partner with project leadership and field teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of construction safety experience required.
- Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 requirements.
- OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
- EM 385-1-1 40-Hour certification required or ability to obtain.
- CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction hazards, equipment, methods, and safe work practices.
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for jobsite hazards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an active construction environment.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to transition to night shift as project needs evolve.
