About this role

Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary healthcare environment through routine and detailed cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas in accordance with MCES Industries standards and healthcare best practices. Supports infection prevention, safety, and a positive patient/visitor experience.

Work Schedule: variable hours at client request
Monday–Friday, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (4-hour evening shift)

Key Responsibilities:
Daily Cleaning & Disinfection

- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, offices, corridors, and staff areas.

- High-touch surface disinfection (handles, switches, counters, chairs, exam tables).

- Remove trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste according to protocols.

- Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, and vacuum floors.

- Spot clean walls, doors, glass, and partitions.

Biohazard / Regulated Medical Waste Handling

- Safely collect and transport RMW and sharps containers as trained.

- Follow OSHA, clinic, and MCES procedures for handling/labeling.

- Use proper PPE at all times.

- Report spills, leaks, or exposure incidents immediately.

Floor & Surface Care

- Operate basic floor care equipment.

- Maintain baseboards, corners, and edges.

- Report floor hazards or damage.

Restroom & Breakroom Maintenance

- Clean and disinfect fixtures, counters, toilets, sinks, and floors.

- Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, liners).

- Maintain breakrooms and appliance exteriors.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

- Follow all MCES and client safety procedures, PPE use, and chemical handling.

- Adhere to infection prevention protocols.

- Use only approved cleaning products.

- Participate in required training and inspections.

- Report maintenance issues and near-misses.

Customer Service & Teamwork

- Interact professionally with staff, patients, and visitors.

- Respond to reasonable requests promptly.

- Work collaboratively with team members.

Qualifications

Required:

- Prior custodial/janitorial experience (healthcare preferred, not required).

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.

- Ability to work independently and manage time within a 4-hour shift.

- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift 30–40 lbs.

- Availability Monday–Friday, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

- Willingness to handle biohazard/regulated medical waste.

Preferred:

- Experience in healthcare or regulated environments.

- Familiarity with infection prevention practices and disinfectants.

- Basic knowledge of floor care equipment and procedures.
