Purpose of Role

Health models serve as standardized patients in the department's GYN and GU physical diagnosis labs, allowing students to fulfill the course learning objectives. All examinations are performed by individual students, in small group lab settings, and under the direct supervision of a faculty member.

Female Health Model Duties

- Have an external genital exam performed

- Have an internal speculum exam performed

- Have a bimanual exam performed

- Have a breast exam performed

Male Health Model Duties

- Have a testicular exam performed

- Have a penile exam performed

- Have a digital rectal exam/prostate exam performed

- Have an inguinal hernia exam performed
