Description

The touch-up technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing minor imperfections on the exterior paint surface for various types of vehicles. The technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and an understanding of minor paint touch-up systems.

Duties and responsibilities

Inspect and Diagnose: Examine vehicle exterior for wear, minor paint damage, and potential issues.

Repairs: Perform touch-up repairs on damaged exteriors utilizing available tools and paint products.

Preparation and Finish: Clean and prep exterior areas, sand and buff, paint touch-up, and conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards.

Customer Service: Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services.

Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Documentation: Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets.

Qualifications

Education/Other:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Experience:

- One year of previous experience as an automotive touch-up technician is required.
- Interior repair experience is a plus.

Skills:

- Knowledge of automotive exterior surfaces and paint materials.
- Familiarity with various paint products and techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and painting machines.
- Attention to detail and precision in repair work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.

Working conditions

- Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals.
- Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals.
- May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
