Role Overview:

At Capco, we combine business, data and technology expertise to deliver meaningful transformation across financial services.

We are looking for a Data Business Analyst to support a large-scale banking data initiative. This role sits at the intersection of business requirements, data analysis and technical delivery , with a strong focus on translating business needs into well-defined data solutions.

You will be responsible for an end-to-end analytical scope: understanding data requirements, identifying and validating source data, defining business logic and mappings, preparing Asset Designs and implementation-ready requirements, and collaborating with Data Engineering teams throughout delivery.

What You'll be responsible for:

- Gathering, analysing and refining business and data requirements and translating them into clear technical requirements.

- Acting as a link between business stakeholders, data teams, architects and Data Engineers throughout the data delivery lifecycle.

- Identifying relevant data sources across HDP/Hadoop environments and determining how they should be delivered to the analytical layer in Google Cloud Platform .

- Analysing and validating data using SQL, BigQuery, Hive and Spark SQL .

- Preparing and maintaining Asset Designs, data mappings and detailed solution logic .

- Creating implementation-ready requirements and tickets for Data Engineering, covering data sources, scope, transformations, mappings and business rules.

- Collaborating with Data Engineers during implementation to clarify requirements, explain solution logic and validate delivered solutions.

- Verifying data accuracy, completeness, consistency and alignment with agreed requirements.

- Identifying and analysing Data Quality and Data Completeness issues and coordinating activities with Data Owners, asset owners and engineering teams to resolve them.

- Delivering activities related to Data Governance , including data mapping, standards validation and data access requirements.

- Preparing data access and permission requests for relevant users and groups.

- Analysing ongoing and ad hoc issues affecting data and pipelines, performing root cause analysis and defining required changes.

- Supporting enhancements to existing data pipelines, including changes to processing logic, schedules, dates and source systems.

- Creating and modifying scripts or code maintained in GitHub to support analysis, data validation and project delivery.

What we're looking for:

- Experience delivering data solutions within banking or financial services.

- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and complex data analysis.

- Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery .

- Experience analysing data in Hadoop/HDP environments , ideally using Hive and/or Spark SQL .

- Experience translating business requirements into technical data requirements.

- Good understanding of data mappings, transformation logic and data flows .

- Experience preparing detailed specifications, solution designs or implementation requirements for Data Engineering teams.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the areas of Data Quality and Data Completeness .

- Ability to investigate data issues, identify root causes and define appropriate solutions.

- Experience collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including business teams, Data Engineers, architects, Data Owners and asset owners.

- Familiarity with GitHub and the ability to create or modify scripts supporting data analysis and validation.

Bonus points for:

- Understanding of Data Governance principles and data ownership models.

- Experience with data access management and permission-related processes.

- Understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based analytical platforms.

- Experience supporting complex data transformation or data migration initiatives.
