SUNLAND ASPHALT

Sunland Asphalt & Construction is seeking Certified Flaggers to support our asphalt paving projects in the Kykotsmovi, AZ area. The Certified Flagger plays a critical role in jobsite safety, directing and slowing traffic while properly utilizing traffic control devices, equipment, and strategies throughout the work zone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

- Serve as an advocate for safety by following all company safety policies and procedures.

- Work with the Foreman or Crew Leader to ensure the jobsite is safe and traffic is controlled prior to commencing work.

- Set up barricades, cones, and related signage to provide a safe flagging work environment for our partners in the work zone.

- Make field adjustments and corrections to keep the project safe for the customer, municipality, motoring public, and pedestrians.

- Operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment, and tools in compliance with local, state, and federal safety guidelines.

- Coordinate and work with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to complete the job.

- Serve as a front-line company representative, providing excellent service to the customer and the public.

- Drive to and from designated work zones with all equipment necessary to establish a safe work zone.

- Maintain jobsites and equipment to ensure the highest-quality setups and to uphold The Sunland Way.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

- Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience is preferred.

- Ability to speak read and write English is preferred.

- Flagger certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- This position operates at professional construction sites and requires the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person, and over the telephone; the ability to read printed materials, signs, and directions; and the stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions.

- Requires the ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle, or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery, and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; and balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, and traverse around or otherwise position oneself to safely navigate and perform activities on various construction sites.

- Work is performed outdoors, frequently for long periods of time, in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

- While working, the employee may be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses or other airborne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machinery, and dust/debris.
