Christ the King Catholic Parish in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a part time Facilities and Grounds Manager. The position is responsible for the general care, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of Christ the King Catholic Parish facilities and grounds. This position oversees routine building and grounds maintenance, including lawns, landscaping, flower beds, and outdoor areas, and helps ensure that parish facilities and property are clean, safe, functional, and welcoming.

Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (the Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of parish buildings and facilities.
- Monitor the condition of buildings, rooms, restrooms, doors, lighting, plumbing, and other facility needs
- Report maintenance concerns and needed repairs to the Pastor
- Coordinate or assist with outside contractors and service providers as directed by the Pastor
- Ensure parish facilities are clean, orderly, safe, and ready for scheduled activities and events
- Assist with setting up and preparing parish facilities for meetings, Masses, events, and activities
- Maintain and properly store maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
- Maintain appropriate records of maintenance needs and completed work, as needed
- Maintain and care for all parish lawns, landscaping, and flower beds including mowing grass, maintaining flower beds and plants, pruning shrubs, and removing debris from grounds
- Monitor landscaping and irrigation and report concerns or problems
- Prepare and maintain parish grounds for special events and activitie
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to bend, kneel, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods as needed
- Must be able to safely operate basic maintenance, lawn, and gardening equipment
- Must be able to perform routine facility and grounds maintenance safely and independently
- Must maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Experience in general building, facility, yard, or grounds maintenance preferred
- Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to safely operate basic maintenance, lawn, and gardening equipment
- Ability to identify maintenance concerns and determine when professional assistance is needed
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Additional Requirements:
- Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures.
