POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager has responsibility for the direct overall supervision and administration of the department including the planning, budget, organization, direction and coordination of staff. The M/S Nursing Manager is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of related regulations and professional standards, assuring competent staff through hiring, orientation, training and staff education. The manager will participate in Quality Improvement initiatives and represent the Medical Surgical Department as part of the Interdisciplinary Quality Committee. The manager will support the Utilization Review process. In addition to administrative responsibilities, this manager will provide clinical nursing support as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum Education: Associate Degree of Nursing from an accredited school required, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

- Current Idaho Professional Nursing License (RN).

- Current BLS certification required (can obtain within 2 months of hire).

- ACLS certification required within 2 months of hire. Prefer TNCC and PALS.

- Minimum of three (3) years experience as an RN in an acute care setting.

- At least one year experience as an RN in a rural hospital setting (or equivalent experience).

- One year experience as an RN manager or supervisor with scheduling, budgetary and quality improvement management experience.
