About this role

The Grounds & Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for performing routine maintenance and groundskeeping tasks while safely operating heavy machinery approximately 50% of the time. This role supports facility operations, outdoor grounds maintenance, and construction or material handling projects. Training will be provided for candidates with limited heavy equipment experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, debris removal, and landscaping support.

- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, dozers, rollers, motor graders, and man lifts.

- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while operating machinery.

- Conduct routine inspection and basic maintenance of equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors.

- Assist with facility maintenance projects, including material movement, site preparation, and minor repairs.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

- Participate in training programs to develop heavy machinery skills as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Valid drivers license.

- Prior experience operating heavy machinery is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Strong attention to safety, detail, and teamwork.

- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and operate machinery safely.
