### Job description
HMPPS Band 5
This position sits in the Insights and Assurance team within the Operational Resilience and Response Unit (ORRU). The postholder will need to be adept at quantitative data analysis, be proficient with excel, and be comfortable and/or be willing to learn how to use PowerBI, DPS, NOMIS and other data systems. The role requires you to update and maintain data dashboards that are used across the organisation, provide accurate data for FOIs and PQs, and quality assure MI Use of Force data. You will have opportunities to learn how to use statistical software (such as SPSS) and work with an incredibly supportive team of Data Managers and Evidence Specialists. More specifically you will have excellent knowledge of:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel

The post holder should be confident in the use of Microsoft Excel to organise, analyse and present complex information, including VLOOKUP and IF formulas along with graph and pivot table functions.

- Power BI

Develop, maintain and enhance interactive dashboards, transforming complex information into clear visual insights to monitor key areas and support effective business decisions, ensuring relevant stakeholders are provided access and supported in use of the tool.

- Database Management

Maintain and manage databases using sources on DPS, NOMIS and the Performance Hub, ensuring information is accurately captured, structured, checked for discrepancies and easily accessible.

- Standardisation and Transformation

Apply consistent standards across multiple sources, carrying out transformations, cleansing, formatting and validation to ensure information is accurate, consistent and suitable for reporting and analysis.

- Insights and Assurance

Identify trends, patterns and anomalies within large datasets, producing clear findings to be flagged to assurance leads and provide recommendations to stakeholders.

You will work closely with National Assurance and Practice Development Leads and on occasion you may be asked to visit and support prisons and regional leads with their data and evidence needs. While this is a national post, you will be required to visit National Training Centres or Headquarters for in-person team meetings or events (normally once per quarter).

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.

For nationally advertised roles, the successful candidate(s) will be appointed to a MoJ office location, which may include their nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office. This will be discussed and agreed on the completion of pre-employment checks.

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.

Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid. HMPPS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. -The holiday year runs from 1 March. If you work a non standard work pattern your leave entitlement may be expressed in either hours or days as appropriate. Leave entitlement is calculated on a pro-rata basis and you will be advised of your actual entitlement on appointment.
