About the Role

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeking experienced Ug Mining Superintendent to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island.

As part of this exciting opportunity, Macmahon will deliver underground development, production and backfill services from October 2026.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this is an outstanding opportunity for a proven underground mining leader to inspire high-performing teams, drive operational excellence, and play a key role in the success of a major project.

Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and execute the underground mining schedule to achieve production targets.

- Manage rosters, workforce planning, and personnel deployment.

- Lead performance management, coaching, and development activities for site teams.

- Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as the key project liaison.

- Facilitate and lead operational, safety, and planning meetings.

- Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, productivity, and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

- Demonstrated experience in an Underground Mine Superintendent role

- Hold at least one of the following mining leadership qualifications:

S26 Statutory Supervisor Certificate (WA)

- S123/G189 Mining Supervisor ticket (QLD)

- S10 Statutory Supervisor Certificate (NSW)

- B or A Grade NZ Statutory Supervisors ticket

- Ability to build trust, set standards and make clear decisions

- Strong planning, problem-solving and stakeholder skills

- Commitment to safe, high-quality delivery

- Valid Australian manual drivers’ licence or New Zealand (Class 1)
