About this role
IOM Kazakhstan is seeking an Hourly Contract Holder based in Almaty to provide case-based legal assistance to migrants in vulnerable situations. The Contract Holder will support migrants in regularizing their legal status, obtaining necessary migration documents, accessing exit procedures, and navigating administrative processes with relevant government authorities. Working on an as-needed basis, the Contract Holder will provide legal counselling, prepare documentation, liaise with migration and consular authorities, accompany beneficiaries during administrative procedures, and represent eligible cases in administrative court proceedings when required. The role also includes reporting on case outcomes and ensuring confidentiality of beneficiary data.
The position requires a law degree, at least five years of experience in migration law in Kazakhstan, practical court representation experience, and fluency in Kazakh and Russian. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
