Position Overview

Polytechnic School (Poly) is seeking a Head Coach for its Varsity Baseball program. The Head Coach will lead all aspects of the program — from player development and game strategy to culture-building and communication with families — while upholding the values and standards of Poly Athletics. This is a part-time, seasonal coaching position.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee all varsity baseball operations, including practice planning, in-game strategy, and roster management

- Recruit, evaluate, and develop student-athletes across skill levels, from varsity-ready players to those still building fundamentals

- Coordinate with the JV/Middle School coaching staff to ensure a consistent player-development pipeline throughout the program

- Model and enforce standards of sportsmanship, discipline, and academic priority consistent with school policy

- Communicate regularly and professionally with student-athletes, parents, and school administration

- Manage practice and game schedules in coordination with the Athletics Department

- Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of equipment and facilities

- Support team fundraising, community engagement, and program visibility (e.g., social media, banquet events) in partnership with Athletics Communications

- Ensure compliance with league, section, and school safety and eligibility policies

- Attend required coaches' meetings and trainings (CPR/First Aid, concussion protocol, etc.)

- Engage robustly in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment

- Willingness to take on other duties as needed

Qualifications

- Prior coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or competitive club level preferred

- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, and player development techniques

- Demonstrated ability to work with and mentor high-school-aged student-athletes

- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- Current or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification and complete background clearance

- Bachelor's degree required; teaching experience a plus

- Demonstrated experience creating inclusive learning environments and opportunities
