Sunstates Security is hiring Unarmed Security Officers in the Newark, NJ area.  All days and shifts are available! These positions offer a pay rate of  $20/hr, with weekly pay.

Job Requirements

Security Officer – Trucking & Logistics

Employment Type: Temporary-to-Permanent Opportunity

Schedule: Must have open availability and flexibility to work various shifts, days, weekends, and hours

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Security Officer with previous trucking, transportation, or logistics security experience. This position is responsible for maintaining security and supporting daily truck traffic operations at a fast-paced logistics facility.

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity. Candidates who demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, professionalism, job performance, and the ability to successfully perform all required duties may be considered for a permanent position.

This is not a traditional security position where the primary responsibility is simply monitoring a building. The Security Officer will work directly with truck drivers, trailers, containers, shipping/receiving operations, yard personnel, and facility management. Candidates must be comfortable working in an active trucking environment and understand the importance of accurate documentation and attention to detail.

Candidates must have flexible availability. The operational needs of the facility may require employees to work different shifts

and hours.

Applicants must be willing and able to:

- Work first, second, and/or third shift as operationally required.
- Work weekdays, weekends, and holidays when scheduled.
- Adjust to changes in start and end times.
- Work overtime when required.
- Provide coverage for different shifts based on operational needs.
- Report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance.
- Understand that hours and schedules may change based on truck volume, staffing, production, and client needs.

Candidates who have significant restrictions on their availability may not be a good fit for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Control facility access and process trucks, trailers, and drivers.
- Verify IDs, shipping documents, BOLs, and load information.
- Maintain accurate gate logs, records, and incident reports.
- Conduct yard, trailer, and container inspections.
- Monitor site security, CCTV, and vehicle activity.
- Report discrepancies, safety concerns, and suspicious activity.
- Follow security procedures and provide professional customer service.

Qualifications:

- Security experience in trucking, logistics, warehouse, or transportation environments.
- Knowledge of truck gate operations, shipping documents, and access control.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and computer skills.
- Reliable, professional, and flexible with scheduling.

A Security Officer may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Security Officer will read and become extremely knowledgeable of Post Orders and SOP and will be able to act quickly and efficiently according to such directives.
