RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

- Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties, such as designing, preparing, and developing teaching materials.

- Conduct classes/lectures, tutorials, and practicals; engage in consultations with students; perform invigilation, marking, and assessment.

- Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University’s teaching and learning expectations.

Administration and Other Activities

- Undertake and contribute to administrative responsibilities, including attending departmental meetings and participating in committees and working groups within the Department, School, and Faculty.

REQUIREMENTS

- Candidate must have a minimum Master Degree in Directing, Theatre, Film, Performing Arts, or a related field or a Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of related work experience in the subject taught or equivalent professional experience may be considered in exceptional cases.

- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in teaching directing at a tertiary level.

- Demonstrated professional experience as a director in theatre, film, television, or other relevant production settings.

- Experience in curriculum development and academic administration is an advantage.

- Strong knowledge of directing principles and practices, including storytelling, visual composition, actor direction, blocking, and staging.

- Ability to teach diverse directing approaches and practices, across relevant forms such as theatre, film, television, and other screen or performance-based media.

- Experience in production planning, rehearsal direction, script interpretation, or working with creative and production teams is preferred.

- Knowledge of dramaturgy, narrative development, performance analysis, and production processes relevant to directing.
