Location: Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, DG2 8PS

Salary: £43,000 - £50,000 plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Full-time, 8am-4pm Monday- Friday and on-call rota, typically one week in six (additional allowance paid of £2790)

Serco is seeking an experienced Senior Technician to join the Hard FM team at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to help lead the delivery of critical maintenance services within a busy healthcare environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Engineer, you will supervise a multi-skilled maintenance workforce delivering reactive and planned maintenance, minor works, and project activities across the hospital estate. You will play a key role in ensuring statutory compliance, maintaining critical engineering systems, and supporting the safe operation of hospital services.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise maintenance teams and contractors.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance and reactive works.
- Support the safe operation of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and statutory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
- Assist with the delivery of improvement and refurbishment projects.

About You

We are looking for a qualified engineering professional with:

- HNC/HND, apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, or building services maintenance.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and safety-critical environment.

Healthcare experience would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates with transferable engineering and leadership skills.
