Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Specialist to support payroll tax operations and compliance activities. This role will be responsible for assisting the payroll tax team with payroll tax reporting, tax account maintenance, audit reviews, tax notice resolution, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate will have strong payroll tax knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with payroll systems in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain access to state tax websites for income tax and unemployment tax accounts.
• Retrieve, scan, and process payroll tax correspondence and notices.
• Review team email inboxes and upload tax notices and documentation into ADP SmartCompliance.
• Review payroll tax calculation errors and resolve discrepancies within PeopleSoft.
• Review and resolve daily payroll tax audit reports.
• Monitor and track open case statuses within ADP SmartCompliance.
• Research and resolve locality tax discrepancies and "fall-off" reports.
• Perform monthly Illinois tax filing uploads.
• Assist with payroll tax projects, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance initiatives.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of payroll tax, payroll compliance, or related payroll experience.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Experience researching and resolving payroll tax discrepancies and tax notices.
• Experience working with payroll systems and payroll tax platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Experience with ADP SmartCompliance.
• Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll.
• Multi-state payroll tax experience.
• Experience supporting payroll tax functions within a large corporate environment.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davidson, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
