Job Title: Medical Billing and Payment Posting Specialist Job Description
This entry-level to mid-level role focuses on medical billing, payment posting, insurance authorizations, and claims management in a fast-growing fertility and gynecology clinic. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients about billing inquiries both over the phone and in person.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical billing activities, including accurate and timely payment posting for patient accounts.
- Manage insurance authorizations and oversee claims processing to ensure correct and efficient reimbursement.
- Follow up with patients regarding billing questions, concerns, and issues, providing clear explanations and resolutions.
- Ensure proper billing procedures are followed, with particular focus on expanding laboratory services and related billing requirements.
- Communicate with patients in a professional and courteous manner about billing inquiries, both by phone and in person.
- Collaborate with the billing team to support claims management, collections, and overall revenue cycle processes.
- Maintain organized records and documentation related to billing, authorizations, and insurance claims.
- Support continuous improvement of billing workflows and processes in alignment with clinic growth and leadership direction.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of medical billing experience, including hands-on payment posting responsibilities.
- Experience with insurance authorizations and claims management in a healthcare setting.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to speak clearly and professionally with patients over the phone and in person.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices, insurance claims, authorizations, and collections.
- Ability to work accurately with billing data and payments while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and internal team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; an associate degree or relevant billing certifications will be considered.
- Experience in a medical office or clinical environment, particularly in fertility, gynecology, or related specialties, is a plus.
- Familiarity with supervising or supporting billing workflows within a team environment is beneficial.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-growing clinic setting and contribute to process improvements.
- Comfort working with claims, insurance processes, and authorization requirements across multiple payers.
Work Environment
This role is fully onsite, five days per week, in a fast-growing fertility and gynecology clinic setting. The team-oriented billing department currently has five members and is expanding by adding two to three payment posting specialists. Standard workdays are Monday through Friday, with negotiable shifts such as 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The environment is professional, collaborative, and focused on delivering high-quality patient care and service, supported by competitive pay, benefits, paid time off, and opportunities to grow with strong leadership.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $60000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
