Job Title: Buyer II Job Description The Buyer II plays a key role in managing the end-to-end procurement process, including supplier selection, purchase order management, cost analysis, and supplier performance improvement. This position focuses on building and maintaining a strong supplier base, ensuring continuous supply of goods and materials, and developing innovative procurement strategies that align with organizational goals. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve win-win solutions on pricing, delivery, and quality. Responsibilities

- Enter and maintain accurate supplier information in the business management and ERP systems.
- Request and evaluate quotes from multiple suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable delivery terms.
- Build and maintain a robust supplier base by selecting appropriate suppliers based on price, lead time, quantity, and overall capability.
- Create, issue, and follow up on supplier purchase orders and purchase requisitions, ensuring timely processing and delivery.
- Expedite purchase orders when necessary to meet operational needs and resolve any delays in supply.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers, including current, new, and potential partners.
- Maintain assigned supplier scorecards, investigate supplier responses, and develop strategic improvements as directed by leadership.
- Document and measure supplier performance, focusing on product quality and on-time delivery, and work with suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
- Audit supplier procedures and documentation in collaboration with quality management, using ISO requirements as a baseline.
- Address minor and major product or service issues with suppliers and develop practical, sustainable solutions.
- Conduct cost analysis of current and future products and suppliers within the scope of work to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Research potential new suppliers, their capabilities, and product offerings while sustaining strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Ensure a continuous supply of required goods and materials and proactively communicate any supply risks that may impact business operations.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of service with suppliers, focusing on cost reduction while maintaining or improving quality.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market changes to inform procurement decisions and supplier strategy.
- Develop innovative procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and changing market conditions.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers, conduct performance reviews to ensure contract compliance, and manage performance improvement activities.
- Investigate vendor responses and implement necessary improvements as directed by leadership.

Essential Skills

- 7+ years of buying or purchasing experience in a relevant industry.
- Ability to effectively manage purchasing, procurement, and purchase order processes from initiation to completion.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices.
- Proficiency with ERP systems for daily purchasing and supplier management tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct cost analysis and evaluate pricing structures for current and future products and suppliers.
- Proven experience in negotiating pricing and terms while balancing cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Ability to build, maintain, and evaluate supplier scorecards and performance metrics.
- Experience documenting and improving supplier performance related to product quality and on-time delivery.
- Capability to audit supplier procedures and documentation, using ISO requirements as a baseline.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market changes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- A Supply Chain Management degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- 3–5 years of experience in a metal manufacturing or fabrication business is preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience with applied coatings and chemical treatments is preferred.
- Experience working with government contracts or long-term supply agreements is beneficial.
- Familiarity with ISO-based quality management systems and audits.
- Strong problem-solving skills for addressing product and service issues with suppliers.
- Ability to develop and implement innovative procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.

Work Environment This role operates in a structured, process-driven procurement environment that supports long-term contracts and stable business operations. You will work extensively with ERP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite to manage supplier data, purchase orders, and performance metrics. The position involves regular collaboration with quality management and other internal departments, as well as frequent communication and negotiation with external suppliers. The work is primarily office-based, focusing on data analysis, supplier evaluation, and strategic sourcing activities within a manufacturing and fabrication context that includes applied coatings and chemical treatments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401k, health, vision, dental, PTO
