Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms, offices, and back-of-house areas meet established cleanliness, presentation, and service standards.
- Plan, assign, and supervise team workloads based on occupancy, staffing levels, productivity expectations, and operational needs.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and assigned areas to ensure quality and brand standards are consistently maintained.
- Coordinate closely with Front Office to ensure timely room readiness, including priority rooms, VIP arrivals, early arrivals, and special requests.
- Manage daily, periodic, and deep-cleaning schedules and coordinate maintenance requirements with Engineering.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop housekeeping team members while monitoring attendance, productivity, conduct, and performance.
- Prepare departmental schedules, maintain appropriate staffing levels, and effectively manage overtime and labor costs.
- Manage housekeeping supplies, amenities, linen, chemicals, and equipment, including inventory controls, par levels, storage, and usage.
- Assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, expense management, and cost-control initiatives.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and cleanliness-related complaints and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, health and sanitation requirements, workplace safety procedures, and chemical-handling guidelines.
- Conduct departmental meetings, pre-shift briefings, training sessions, coaching, and performance discussions as required.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, reports, inspection documentation, schedules, and inventory records.
- Monitor departmental quality, service, and productivity results and implement corrective action where standards are not achieved.
- Promote a positive, safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with operational departments to support occupancy demands, group arrivals, special events, property initiatives, and overall guest satisfaction.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership during high-occupancy periods and other critical operational situations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Significant relevant experience can substitute for formal education.
- Minimum of three years of progressive housekeeping experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Previous experience in a resort or luxury hotel property is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping operations, including guest room cleaning, public area maintenance, room inspections, deep-cleaning programs, linen control, laundry operations, and inventory management.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience coaching, developing, scheduling, and managing performance within a diverse team.
- Knowledge of departmental budgeting, labor productivity and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of health, sanitation, workplace safety, chemical handling, and proper use of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness, presentation, and guest-service standards.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, Security, Human Resources, and other operational departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with hotel property-management, housekeeping, or workforce-management systems preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on business needs.
- Ability to perform regular property and room inspections and meet the physical demands associated with a fast-paced resort environment.
Working Conditions:
- Required to regularly work shifts; inclusive of overnight shift, weekends and holidays
- Required to work efficiently and effectively in a fast- paced, high pressure environment
- External (outdoor) and internal work environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and climb stairs constantly and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift and adjust furniture items.
