Job Summary:
The laser applications engineer is responsible for developing laser-based materials processing solutions supporting products across the enterprise. This role works closely with sales and product engineering teams to solve customer problems and prove feasibility of laser-based processes. The role will expose the candidate to laser technologies spanning solid state, CO2, excimer and fiber and processes including cutting, welding, ablation and surface treatment. At this level the applications engineer will work with some supervision but will have enough experience to take on simple projects independently. The candidate should have some exposure to at least one laser and beam delivery technology but will still be learning and improving their expertise. This role requires the candidate to broaden their expertise by taking on new, untested applications and to begin to dive deeper into theory of their area of expertise by connecting modeling and real world results.
