Job Title: Civil Engineer Job Description
The Civil Engineer designs and supervises a wide range of infrastructure and land development projects, including water and wastewater systems, stormwater and drainage, site development, and transportation. This role estimates project costs and resource needs, leads project execution, and prepares technical studies and written reports. The Civil Engineer may work independently or as part of a larger project team, exercising a high degree of creativity and professional judgment while contributing to business development activities.
Responsibilities
- Design and supervise civil engineering projects such as water and wastewater systems, sewer infrastructure, stormwater facilities, land development, site development, and transportation projects based on service center needs.
- Estimate project costs, including personnel requirements, materials, and other resources, to support accurate budgeting and planning.
- Conduct engineering studies and analyses, and prepare clear, detailed written reports and technical documentation for clients.
- Take the lead on assigned projects, managing scope, schedule, and quality while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor other engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel, providing guidance and support to develop talent within the team.
- Collaborate as part of multidisciplinary teams on larger scale projects, ensuring effective communication and integration of design elements.
- Apply a wide degree of creativity and professional latitude in developing practical, innovative engineering solutions.
- Assist in business development efforts by supporting client relationships and identifying opportunities for new projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of statements of qualifications and proposals for potential clients, including technical input and project approaches.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design tools to produce accurate grading, drainage, and site development plans.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a civil engineer with involvement in sewer, water, and wastewater projects.
- Strong background in land development, site development, grading, drainage, and stormwater design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design, including transportation, municipal, and site projects.
- Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices across water, sewer, and transportation infrastructure.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects.
- Ability to lead projects and supervise engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear written reports and present technical information to clients and team members.
- Strong capability as a developer of talent, with a focus on mentoring and supporting professional growth within the team.
- Professional Engineer background or orientation, with the ability to exercise independent engineering judgment and creativity.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with municipal engineering projects, including transportation and public infrastructure.
- Familiarity with preparing statements of qualifications and proposals for prospective clients.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Comfort with a wide degree of creativity and latitude in developing design solutions.
- Interest in contributing to an employee-owned environment and supporting business development initiatives.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment in Mesa, working within a professional civil engineering setting. The Civil Engineer will primarily use AutoCAD Civil 3D and other standard civil design and office software tools to complete project work. The position involves collaboration with engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel, as well as interaction with clients and project partners. The work environment supports teamwork, professional development, and engagement in an employee-owned culture, with typical office hours and project-based deadlines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Las Vegas, NV.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
