You will perform on-site field verification, take precise measurements, and translate existing conditions into clear, reliable AutoCAD drawings that support space planning, facility modifications, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects. The position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented drafter who is comfortable working both at a desk and directly on the manufacturing floor to ensure documentation accurately reflects real-world conditions. Responsibilities

- Develop, update, and maintain accurate facility as-built drawings using AutoCAD (2D).
- Perform field verification of existing buildings, utilities, equipment layouts, and infrastructure in an active industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Take precise field measurements and thoroughly document existing site conditions.
- Translate field notes, sketches, and observations into clear, accurate CAD drawings.
- Verify existing drawings against actual site conditions, identify discrepancies, and update documentation accordingly.
- Maintain drawing organization, including layering standards, file structure, and revision control processes.
- Support Facilities and Engineering teams by providing accurate drawings and documentation for space planning, facility modifications, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as Facilities and Engineering to validate information and resolve drawing or documentation questions.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical, architectural, structural, and basic MEP elements when creating and revising drawings.
- Incorporate piping layouts, P&ID information, and mechanical design details into drawings where needed.
- Ensure weld symbols and fabrication details are represented correctly on drawings.
- Work independently in the field to collect data and manage multiple drawing updates and assignments simultaneously.
- Adhere to all site safety policies and procedures when working in operational and manufacturing areas.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally to document changes, clarify requirements, and collaborate with team members.
- Proactively manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

Essential Skills

- Proven experience as an AutoCAD Drafter, ideally supporting facilities, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD (2D), including creating, updating, and managing as-built drawings.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques, principles, and best practices.
- Ability to perform on-site field verification and measurement of buildings, utilities, equipment layouts, and infrastructure.
- Ability to visualize and accurately lay out assemblies, sub-assemblies, and details for fabrication.
- Basic understanding of weld symbols and their application in mechanical drawings.
- Solid understanding of building layouts and architectural elements such as walls, doors, and room configurations.
- Basic understanding of MEP elements, including utilities, equipment locations, and related infrastructure.
- Experience creating and updating as-built drawings from field notes and observations.
- Effective written communication skills for documenting conditions, changes, and revisions.
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills for working with Facilities, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve discrepancies between drawings and field conditions.
- High level of organization and attention to detail, especially regarding drawing accuracy and revision control.
- Ability to work independently in the field and in the office, managing multiple drawing updates and assignments.
- General knowledge of manufacturing, production, and industrial environments.
- Comfort working in active operational environments while following safety requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with mechanical drafting, including mechanical design details and layouts.
- Experience working with mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings.
- Familiarity with piping layout and P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagrams).
- Experience with document revision processes and configuration control.
- Exposure to Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD tools is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional facilities and engineering teams.
- Capability to positively and proactively handle multiple assignments in a demanding environment.

Work Environment The role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment where you will split time between a dedicated workspace for drafting and the production floor for field verification and measurements. You will conduct site walks, take measurements, and perform hands-on verification of existing conditions, so appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment will be essential when walking the site and working in operational areas. Work hours follow a standard daytime schedule with some flexibility in start and end times (for example, typical options may fall within early morning to late afternoon shifts). The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration with facilities and engineering teams.
