Position Summary:

The Database Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the platform's data layer supporting a large-scale, cloud-native federal application hosted on AWS. Working as part of an Agile delivery team, this role develops database schemas, SQL code, data pipelines, and data-access components while ensuring high performance, data integrity, security, and scalability. The Database Developer collaborates closely with application developers, database architects, and technical leads to deliver reliable, high-volume data solutions while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain relational database schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, views, and SQL queries.
- Develop and support ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines that efficiently move and transform application data.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution-plan analysis.
- Develop database solutions utilizing AWS data services, including Amazon Aurora, Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and Amazon S3.
- Ensure database integrity, availability, security, and compliance with established enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with software developers, database architects, and technical leads to design efficient data-access patterns.
- Troubleshoot database issues and support production performance tuning and problem resolution.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve database development, SQL optimization, and overall engineering productivity.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Experience:

- 3+ years of database development experience.
- Experience developing SQL-based applications and database solutions.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL database technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise application development teams.

Mandatory Skills:

- SQL development.

- Data modeling fundamentals.
- ETL/ELT development.
- AWS database services (Aurora, Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, or Amazon S3).
- Database performance tuning.

- U.S. work authorization.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

- Amazon Redshift experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume transaction processing systems.
- Federal government project experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted database development or SQL optimization tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines supporting database deployments.
- Experience working within Agile software development teams.

Degrees and Certifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

Preferred

- AWS database or cloud certification.
