About this role

The addition of a part-time clerk for student life is a cost-effective way to offer more availability in the esports arena and intramurals, increase student access, and aid with campus engagement. More support for student life and activities will help in the retention of other staff by lessening the workload and long hours. This will allow full-time staff to focus on consistent oversight and tracking of student participation. The office hours of the esport arena will also expand with additional staffing.

Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of campus events and programs
Provide on-site support for student life activities, including evening and weekend events
Monitor and oversee daily operations of the esports arena, including equipment check-out, basic troubleshooting, and enforcing policies
Support intramural sports programming, including registration, scorekeeping, and game-day coordination
Serve as a point of contact for students participating in activities and events
Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants
Track attendance, participation data, and assist with feedback collection
Assist with marketing efforts such as distributing flyers, promoting events, and engaging students
Ensure proper use and care of equipment, facilities, and supplies
Enforce campus policies and procedures during events and within the esports arena
Provide general administrative support to the Student Life office as needed
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required

- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

- Knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)

- Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays per scheduled shift

- Basic computer skills

- Strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in customer service, event support, recreation, or student activities.

- College coursework preferred

- Interest in esports, gaming, intramurals, or campus programming is a plus

Physical Demands

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

- The person in this position needs to move to other locations on campus occasionally

- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

- Use of manual dexterity

- The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus

- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 30 pounds

- Occasionally moves chairs or other movable furniture to set up for events

- Duties indoors and some outdoors

- Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
