Summary of Position: The Elementary Support Substitute shall be committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to serve at Vacaville Christian Schools. This position provides substitute coverage for Elementary Teacher Assistants and Extended Care Teachers. The primary responsibility is to provide dependable, professional, and Christ-centered support while supervising students and assisting with classroom, playground, before-school, and after-school activities. Responsibilities will vary according to the assigned position and the needs of the school.
Hours of Work : As needed, Monday–Friday, based on substitute availability and school needs
Positions Classification : $17/hour, Temporary/On Call/Non Exempt
Reporting Relationship : Elementary Principal, Dean of Students, Extended Care Director, Lead Teacher Assistant, and/or assigned classroom teacher
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into daily interactions with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Comply with the VCS Statement of Faith, Christian Role Model Expectations, Employee Handbook, and all school policies and procedures.
- Follow the plans, schedules, instructions, and student-management expectations provided for the assigned position.
- Provide classroom assistance to teachers, including supporting students, preparing materials, organizing instructional areas, and completing other assigned tasks.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, before- and after-school care, recess, lunch, carpool, and indoor or outdoor activities, as assigned.
- Promote a safe, orderly, positive, and Christ-centered environment for all students.
- Engage appropriately with students and support planned recreational, enrichment, homework, or instructional activities.
- Demonstrate professional and respectful communication with students, parents, faculty, staff, and school leadership.
- Maintain student, family, and employee confidentiality in a professional manner.
- Follow all student sign-in, release, attendance, and identification procedures applicable to the assigned position.
- Assist students during emergency drills or actual emergencies, including fire, earthquake, evacuation, and lockdown procedures.
- Complete required documentation according to VCS procedures, including behavior notes, illness reports, injury reports, administrative referrals, and other assigned records.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe classrooms, activity areas, playgrounds, and workspaces.
- Use school technology, equipment, and office machines necessary to complete assigned responsibilities.
- Participate in required orientations, training, in-services, and departmental meetings.
- Observe all applicable school, state, and federal health and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of Vacaville Christian Schools.

- Attend a Bible-based church regularly.

Requirements/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working with children preferred
- Ability to move throughout school buildings, classrooms, playgrounds, and the campus
- Ability to stand and actively supervise students for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
