Job Title: Pharmacy Technician: Rare Orphan Job Description
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will locate and enter accurate prescription insurance information on patient profiles, process eligibility checks, and adjudicate pharmacy claims. You will manage inbound calls and communicate with patients, clients, and healthcare providers to ensure efficient medication delivery and adherence to therapy plans.
Responsibilities
- Locate and enter accurate prescription insurance information on patient profiles by processing eligibility checks and adjudicating pharmacy claims.
- Adjudicate claims and troubleshoot rejections to ensure correct information is communicated to the patient.
- Communicate the need for medication prior authorization (PA) to providers and serve as a resource during the PA process.
- Manage inbound calls from patients, clients, physicians, practitioners, and clinics regarding inquiries about order status, services provided, and financial support options.
- Serve as a technical resource pertaining to adjudication while identifying areas for improvement.
- Enter detailed, accurate, and grammatically correct progress notes to ensure proper documentation on patient profiles.
- Contact patients to schedule medication delivery and payment, ensuring accurate information is recorded for timely distribution.
- Manage patient refill coordination and follow-up to ensure patients comply with their therapy plan.
- Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to clinicians to ensure patient safety.
Essential Skills
- Pharmacy technician certification
- 2+ years of pharmacy operation experience
- Competent in basic computer skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively work with people
- Detail-oriented and conscientious
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- NC Registered (NCBOP) preferred
- Prior experience working in a pharmacy setting required
- Customer service skills
- Multi-task oriented
- Flexible and adaptable
- High School Diploma required
- Healthcare experience preferred
Work Environment
Work in a call center environment, primarily onsite Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. If converted to permanent, the schedule may become hybrid. Enjoy a collaborative atmosphere with a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to helping patients with rare diseases. The company is closed on weekends and major holidays. There is no direct patient contact, and the focus is on simplifying access to medication and providing personalized care.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Cary, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
